Thinking about it…the Ent-B was launched in 2293, when Kirk “died”. 2294 is the year Scotty retired and crashed on the Jenolan.
If Kirk had left the Nexus in 2369 when the Ent-D found/rescued Scotty, despite being displaced 76 years in the future from Scotty’s perspective it’s been barely a year since he last saw Kirk, and from Kirk’s perspective he saw Scotty minutes ago.
And Kirk was chopping wood
