    That’s in China, I live in the EU. If those were the prices over here, I don’t know who would still buy ICEs. OTOH electrical grid would explode 🤪

      According to this article, a BYD Dolphin Surf sells for €23,000, or about USD$26,000.

      Which includes (a justified IMO) 45% EU tariff on Chinese cars, due to massive manufacturing subsidies.

        Right, forgot about that. The price is awesome, the size and range not so but then again, as a second car can be great and I hope a sign of affordable cars to come. It also features a LFP battery which is good. But beyond affordability there is another feature I’d like to see and it affects all cars - an option to disable all car communication to outside world.

      Would it? If people recharge their vehicles during off-peak hours when rates are low, increased demand should be manageable, no?

        Older cables are simply not built for such demand in residential areas at least. Also people would need to charge during peak hours as well, probably with proportional increase to what we have today.
