Loops vs. PeerTube for video host
Hey friends, I’m thinking of starting up an ActivityPub compatible server to host and share my own train videos with the Fediverse, and wondering: Of the two video-oriented softwares, which would be a better fit for my use case and easier to work with? The videos would be between 15 seconds and 10 minutes long.
Comparisons, pros and cons, and your experiences working with either would be appreciated. Thanks. @fediverse

Both is the answer. Most people will flip past a 10 minute short-form video. Just like the TikTok/Youtube sitution, edit some things to be vertical and short, and post those to Loops. Include a link in your profile to your Peertube, and let the short videos direct people who like your stuff to your longer horizontal videos.
How well would such links work? I guess there isn’t a federatable way to stay on the current instance. It’s already a pain on youtube on TV, because there are no clickable links.
So far I rarely like and comment on peertube because I usually can’t. Newpipe doesn’t allow to log in with mastodon or similar for likes and comments, but it’s one of the few apps compatible with remotes (not 100%)
Does loops also discourage creating accounts there if you don’t wanna make videos?
Actually now that you mention it, I just checked and it seems like links in profile aren’t even clickable or selectable from the Loops Android app, so that’s annoying.
I usually make an acct for each distinct fedi service, so not sure. I see a bunch of videos pop up from Mastodon users, but I just browse it from a Loops account (and never post videos).
