I’m only doing it for the environment and can’t commit to any that need any care at all. What would be best?
Honestly, if you’re only doing it for the environment, you might be better off not doing it. The carbon created to get the plant/s to you could easily be more than they capture in their lifetime.

Please fact check me, but some quick Google suggests 1kg/yr for a large houseplant vs 8kg for a gallon of gas (remember there’s also carbon costs associated with the nursery growing and transporting on their side.
Though, I’d encourage you to also research into health benefits of house plants, as I believe they have more benefits than carbon sequester!
If you’d still like some virtually unkillable low maintenance plants, any pathos ivy and snake plants are 2 very popular options. The ivy can but propagated very easily to make more and grows quickly…
