Almost like giving the majority of our EV subsidies to Elon Musk was a bad idea.
Joe Biden dismantled his own damn legacy.
Hardly; the Inflation Reduction Act would have remained in effect no matter what happened to him if Congress and a future President left it alone.
…and Joe Biden set the stage for the election of a rightwing ideologue to be nearly inveitable by refusing to step down until he was forced to by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and not run in a second term (it being too late for Kamala to launch a real campaign at that point)… and thus while on paper the Biden administration was obviously far better for the environment and did many structurally important things the net effect is MASSIVELY negative for the environment because Biden did it all against the backdrop of throwing any chance that Democrats could stop a descent into authoritarian fascism…
edit Fuck Trump, just to be clear
I agree that he shouldn’t have run again. That doesn’t mean he’s the one actively doing damage today
That context is far too disasterous on a planetary scale to ignore in this discussion.
Again, Biden’s refusal to step down undermined every single act he took positively towards the environment a million times over, A BILLION TIMES over, 7 billion or so times for every person on this earth. His presidency deserves to be thrown into the dumspter heap of history for that.

The True Story Of Biden’s Decline Is More Frustrating Than You Thought - The Majority Report
I’m not willing to go that far; people in that kind of decline often don’t have the self-awareness that it takes to make good decisions. I’m willing to blame the people around him for not forcing it, but that’s not the same as aiming at him.

Why are you doing these mental gymnastics? This is a fact Joe Biden should have known and should have accounted for before trying to run at an incredibly advanced age. Yes, this is specifically and primarily Joe Biden’s fault. That is how culpability works, the dangers of age towards our ability to think lucidly aren’t a new awareness that has suddenly dawned on us only after poor Joe started to get fuzzy.
sigh can you just stop? He fucked us over, badly, and yes the cabinet and people around Joe Biden also fucked us over. Jill Biden seriously fucked us because she was absolutely one of the people who should have known what was happening and stood up to say something FAR earlier about her husband, a man she would have presumably been able to tell wasn’t in mental faculty terms the man she had been married to for a good chunk of her life…
Aww yeah just blame Biden constantly and not literally every US politician and billionaire because you don’t actually understand the problem.
This is a lazy, disengenous take of my argument and you know it.
I blame plenty of other people, constantly, I level criticisms at all kinds of politicians. Your response assumes I am obsessed with Biden and even a cursory look at my comment history shows that to be a weird focus you are projecting onto me.
Joe Biden was the president of the United States, so yes I hold him most responsible because he was again… the person in the position of by far the most power in the US, who specifically applied for the job of most powerful person in the US.
Literally all you do is complain about the Democratic Party. My guess is that you want to destroy it. But nothing will pop up in its place any time soon, so all you’re doing is aiding Trump.
Maybe your time would be better spent on “How we get out of this mess,” instead of “This is how we got here.” Because we all know how we got here. You’re beating a dead horse.
But I’m sure people like you don’t want to self reflect.
Let me start by saying: Fuck Trump.
But it would be nice to have a single policy from Democrats that is forward thinking enough to make it unalterable in the near future.
Republicans, for decades, have been dismantling every progressive policy put forth by the DNC at a rate much faster than they can create them. This has now gotten so bad that it includes undoing law settled decades ago like Roe vs Wade.
ALL of this damage could have been avoided if Democrats put ANY effort into making their policies permanant instead of easily altered in the near future.
They had the chance to codify Roe. And now it’s gone, and likely never coming back. They had the chance for the universal health option in ACA. And because of a single complaint from Lieberman, it’s now gone and never coming back.
Bidens Inflation reduction act is now no different.
I find it incredibly frustrating to hear you say “this policy would have remained in effect no matter what happened to him if Congress and a future President left it alone” when there is decades of evidence to suggest that it would not be left alone.
Democrats have had their policies easily removed for going on 20 years simply because they continually lack the foresight and humility to consider their efforts can be so easily undone by a loud idiot with access to social media.
They learned nothing from Bush W. And doubled down on it not happening with Trump.
It has been decades of blatant negligence on their part to create policies with any foresight built into them.
The GOP is about to ban AI legislation for 10 years, so it is unquestionably feasible for the DNC to do the same.
Joe Bidens legacy is much more likely to be related to this lack of foresight as it clearly effected the very election itself (no primaries) in addition to his policies.
One counterexample I would like to point out is the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare seems to have made that program another one of the ‘third rail’ policies alongside Social Security and Medicare
I certainly hope you’re right about it actually being a “third rail” as the OBBB aims to reverse that expansion far beyond where it started. Seeing the elderly in wheelchairs protest this at the capital only to get arrested and their hands zip tied does not give me hope.
