There have been multiple updates, but I can’t find them because the search feature on Mastodon sucks. I also picked this post, because it includes a screenshot.
GrapheneOS will fix this with App Communication Scopes
https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS/111359936037411368
Once it’s ready and deployed, it will not only restrict IPC, but also app visibility
I like Zola. You can integrate it with Lemmy comments: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/30018034
The hexbear.net instance went down, because the admins forgot to renew the domain name
(Technically the server was still running, but federation lemmy-stats-crawler works via domain names)
I also recommend !newcommunities@lemmy.world
It originated somewhere here on Lemmy, can’t find the original post, only a comment that references it: https://lemmy.zip/comment/10082020 (I know that this is not the original post/comment, because that commenter is on lemmy.zip, so they can’t upload media to lemmy.dbzer0.com’s pictrs instance)
I’m not saying this is a fact, or anything scientific (I’m sorry if it appeared that way), but I personally find it pretty accurate, and many people here agree
There’s a diagram that illustrates this pretty well:
Is the meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works like an observatory of .ml shenanigans?
Yes, it was started as an observatory of lemmygrad.ml, but it’s also relevant to lemmy.ml and hexbear.net (the Tankie triad). There are also !tankiejerk@lemmy.world, which just focuses on all kinds of tankies from all instances, !fediverse_vs_disinfo@lemmy.dbzer0.com, which focuses on disinformation (again, from all instances) and !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com, which focuses on moderator overreach (for all instances). It’s also the official, approved and recommended way of complaining about mod action here on lemmy.dbzer0.com.
Cool project!
This is so cool!
If you don’t want to spend too much time with moderation, you will have to manually approve registrations, simply to avoid spam. Sure, that increases the workload slightly, as you’re gonna have to go through applications let’s say once a week, but you don’t have to monitor the instance 24/7. I would still recommend checking reports once in a while, just to be on the safe side. But definitely make sure to deploy @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com’s fedi-safety to prevent CSAM from being uploaded on your instance.
Don’t recommend Voyager as a desktop client to new users. It just looks like a stretched mobile app, and the UX on desktop is piss poor. Just go with the default Lemmy UI, or Photon.
Reasonable choice
Bad choice, many new users specifically came here because of !piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com, which can’t be accessed from lemmy.world.
It’s still commercial, proprietary software
It’s in beta right now, you can get it via TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/d7aPfftU
That’s not true. Moxie only had a problem with a fork called “LibreSignal” because it was using their name. He didn’t want users to confuse the apps.
Archive.org has it all saved
It’s definitely tricky to implement, which is why they don’t provide a time estimate. But they’re working on it.
