Linux@programming.dev•I ditched Linux for Windows 11 for one week - and found 9 big problems
151·1 month agoIt’s the de facto standard for many reasons, none of them being individuals’ choices. Microsoft paid and pushed for Windows to become the default OS on pretty much all OEM hardware, they lobbied super hard to push people into using Office, they gave massive discounts on licences for corporations, big and small companies.
It has nothing to do with individual choices, it created the problem you mentioned in your comment though. People just became complacent and ignorant because of that, not the other way around.

I haven’t done this in a while, but I think that’s the correct procedure: https://utho.com/docs/linux/debian/how-to-reset-debian-root-password/
If it’s your user or root’s password and you have physical access, you can boot in rescue and change passwords from there
Yes and it’s amazing, but it’s not a fix all solution. It helps with focus, executive dysfunction and fatigue, but psychological and psychiatric support is really necessary.
Everything is important but I don’t care because I can’t prioritise!

I don’t know if you feel comfortable with that, but I am pretty open when it comes to my diagnosis.
If I’m asked something like this, I’m usually straight forward about my coping mechanisms.
I have autistic traits and I wear earplugs because I’m very sensitive to noise or wear sunglasses because I can’t handle the light right now, etc. Most of the time it’s a “oh okay, makes sense” kind of answer, sometimes I get asked more question about it.
That’s why I always have ear plugs and sunglasses with me. You never know!

Pretty much!
That definition always bothered me a lot… The hyperactivity is always there, but it’s either internalised, externalised and sometimes it’s both. It’s the intensity of it that can vary a lot from person to person.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Why shouldn't you use YAML to store eye tracking data? /s
13·5 months agoI really like YAML but way too many people use it beyond its purpose… I work with Gitlabci and seeing complex bash scripts inline in YAML files makes me want to hurt people.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux research shows open source contributing trillions to economy
10·5 months agoI mean, a lot of key software are FOSS. A world without linux, curl or ffmpeg would be extremely different.
Sometimes my brain feels like a child throwing a tantrum, stomping their feet and screaming “I don’t want to do it” and I’m the tired, powerless parent, trying to find ways to stop the tantrum and circumvent the issue.

Yeah, sometimes bluetooth keyboards require you to enter the PIN pairing code after connecting to your computer. You should refer to the keyboard’s manual, sometimes it’s not super obvious that it’s waiting for input.
