The English word depressed comes from Latin roots and means pushed down. An old Norse term for the same condition was called hugsott, which translates directly into thought-sick. To me the latter term is more useful because the person suffering has the chance to change his own thoughts, while the former term implies that the condition is caused by factors outside the person’s control.

But the main point of the whole text is: the world is full of suffering, people are good and people are bad, but we should work to be better and lessen suffering. -Forgive those who trespass against you. Love even your enemies. Those who are not against us are with us. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
The Christian right are literally the kind of judgmental people Jesus criticizes. All good forces should work together, rather than creating strawmen that can split progressives.
-Look, the plebs are enjoying the spring weather on their free day. Let’s see if we can squeeze them a bit more.
Protest + boycott + general strike = power of the masses. Protest alone stopped the Iraq War, and genocide in Gaza and even the financial crisis. No, wait I read that wrong, protest does nothing unless its step 1.
