Gravity Batteries? They’re much, much easier using water compared to solid masses.
You could store solar energy as heat in sand and use turbines(if you have water) or Sterling Engines(if you don’t) to spine a generator. Peltiers are a solid state method to convert heat to electricity, but they aren’t very efficient.
Pumped hydro isn’t the same as a hydroelectric dam. Because both reservoirs are engineered and you don’t have the concrete wall as the single point of failure, you don’t have the same risks involved. Pump Hydro can be whatever size you want and spread out to distribute the grid load.
Also, are dam failures worse then Climate Change or are they just more dramatic?
Pumped Hydro is a pretty safe storage method using preexisting technology if you have hills in the area.
Full sun and sunglasses? There’s no way the guy on the left can see shit on his screen.
There’s a engineer that did it in his backyard. I’ll see if I can find it when I get home.

No. In place of a HDMI cable. It was somehow short enough that interference wasn’t an issue.

I once saw someone make a video cable by dissecting the strands of a power cable and insulating them with packing table.

Did you know that NYC has a ban on using coal for cooking indoors? Except that there’s a carve out for pizzerias that already had coal fired pizza ovens. New Yorkers are crazy and I just eat pizza in NJ. I ain’t eating coal pizza.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•Can Cows and Solar Power Coexist? We’re About to Find OutEnglish
10·6 months agoRutgers has been exploring Agrivoltaics for a while. High mounted panels, crops that benefit from shade and pivoting panels with profiles for both following the sun and adjusting out of the way of equipment.
Cows are entirely possible, but the concern isn’t with them chewing wires, but rubbing on poles or panels. They simply need to be high.

And black families were held back on the starting line on purpose.
It wasn’t just Black families either.
You also didn’t answer my question about how you handle families who came to America after slavery. You’ve made your answer simple by ignoring a lot of the issues I brought up. From a practical angle, it’s far easier to implement DEI. It also wouldn’t have to be implemented long term. It would only really be necessary for those with an unfair education. If you fix the public school system, you could retire DEI once those school kids enter the workforce.

Opensource@programming.dev•Python Foundation rejects $1.5M grant with no-DEI stringsEnglish
4·6 months agoYou are proposing a solution that has no real way to be implemented. How would you distribute the reparations? Would just having one ancestor who was a slave be enough? What if you also have an ancestor who was a wealthy merchant? What if your family immigrated after slaver, but before Jim Crow? Does having multiple ancestors stack? What if the company that took advantage of your ancestors doesn’t exist anymore? There is no perfect system, but I think you’re underestimating how many problems your system has.
