  • Wait I thought we use disposable emails. Is there some rule against it oops. And which instance wants a phone number?

The way I see it there are 5 ingredients: VPN, disposable email, doxx aware usage, no phone numbers, random browser fingerprint.

Then from the Lemmy side that’s pretty private. all depends on your vpn and email providers. Choose no logs services from the countries that don’t have relations with the country you are in.

I imagine some Lemmy instances also could have logging off in the countries where it isn’t necessary by law to store such things.

I guess there are those kinda timing attacks that check ISP logs against some user web activity but are they really feasible? In which case though you could have a mode that would make a comment/post after a random delay.

  • Yes as long as business is accessible in EU it must set up hq in one of the eu countries and report data on sellers to that country government. (Thus phone number registration requirement which to have you must show and record ID and personal information to mobile carrier)

how does that work for flohmarkt I don’t know but I can try to set up an instance and we will see what happens. Will there be any nasty letters or not. I suspect as long as it is small thing no one will be interested but if it grew there probably would be an attempt to take it down and fines

I would really really want it to work so we can just don’t care about ever watchful big brother

  • When I used to be interested in hardware I would buy it with half of the top of the line money, the rest invest it in some fund and then buy an upgrade in two years with that investment. Or at least that used to be the case when GPU and all the components had a tendency to become a fancy vintage museums after 2 years. You would be laughed at if you said something about future proofing.

    I miss that.
