5 days agoWhy use Electron and not Qt or GTK? Web is unnecessary here and it creates more attack surface. An enterprise use case may be viable though.
I use Arch based distros btw.

Why would you ever need a server for such an app though? If you want sync, you probably want it for other kinds of files too so this solution makes little sense. Also the cloud is just overrated.
Ik I’m not supposed to put hate on a sane non-political open-source project but cloud-ifying everything really drives me insane.

Bad news in my opinion. Everyone has a different one. Switching to niche social networks will reduce the target audience and don’t even get me started on the moderation issues.
Someone said Rust wasn’t very good at UIs in terms of performance. Though I don’t remember where it was published.

Well performance is important and Rust is fast on paper afaik but idk how it works in real use cases. I don’t remember seeing performance benefits on Rust compared to other languages that are not C.
That’s the issue. You liberals consider everything else hate. Also having to create another instance is segregation which is considered terrible by all of you.
Their image viewer’s name sounds like a GNOME app though.
