Exactly. AI is just better for a significant percentage of purposes. You completely ignore all the costs of the “traditional” creating of the images while exaggerating the ones of the AI generation.

You can “bespoke” abstract reusable image if you want. Oh, and maintaining a catalog with a huge amount of “not quite fit but might be good enough images” isn’t free either.

Photographing isn’t free either.

Can you prove that AI uses more resources to draw thumbnails than a human artist?

In my region they rake the leaves from the town lawns and drive it away every autumn. You know, those pesky leaves could defend soil from frosts and leaves decompost and do many other ugly things that might preserve soil… This will not do.

Regardless of the terminology, it is a strange way to keep panties on.

Yes, engineers and scientists are clever guys and want it better. But they are few. And we have politicians, religious fanatics, linguists, artists, know-it-all-home-brew-geniuses and millionaires. Who are plenty and not clever. And rarely want good.
