Clearly this was intended as intimidation and show of force on the part of the government to discourage what is, until proven otherwise, entirely legal and constitutional behavior.

ICE, alongside the U.S. Secret Service, conducted a large-scale operation in an upscale Irvine, California neighborhood Wednesday to apprehend an individual accused of distributing fliers containing the personal information of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, authorities confirmed.

The operation, described by witnesses as a “military-style brigade,” involved a cavalcade of armored vehicles, with ICE providing Fox News with drone footage showing the procession through Pasadena streets to serve a criminal search warrant.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, allegedly posted fliers around Southern California, including Los Angeles, that listed HSI agents’ names, photographs, phone numbers, and alleged locations, marked with warnings in Spanish such as “CAREFUL WITH THESE FACES.”

Fox News reported the suspect is being charged under 18 U.S.C. § 119, a federal law prohibiting the sharing of law enforcement officers’ personal information with intent to threaten, intimidate, or incite violence.

“I think they are likely going to have a hard time proving that,” said Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, an immigration policy expert. “But they have certainly sent a message.” The operation comes amid heightened tensions over the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement, with ICE reporting over 66,000 arrests of illegal immigrants in the first 100 days of President Donald Trump’s second term.

Anti-ICE have escalated resistance since Trump returned to the White House in January, patrolling neighborhoods to warn residents of ICE activities and distributing fliers to expose agents’ identities.

The investigation remains ongoing, with ICE and the FBI working to identify others involved in the flier campaign. No additional details about the suspect or charges were immediately available.

I use Plex for exactly the reasons you said because when I set it up I didn’t know anything about self hosting a media server and I wanted to share with family in other locations. I keep it because it’s so easy for my older, less tech savvy family members to access so I don’t have to be their support person for it.

I’d consider Jellyfin if the end user access was more plug and play.

The biggest thing about this is I don’t get why OP is so annoyed. If you have a Plex Pass you’re not impacted, you can still share and your users can still access your library for free, they can’t share with you without a Plex Pass but who cares.
