Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Overseerr & Jellyseerr to merge into SeerrEnglish
1·7 days agoThe first one seems to be the most trust worthy, as it’s nearly a year old and has sponsorship apparently from Digital Ocean. Might try that one. The UI isn’t as pretty but it still seems much simpler than managing an Aar stack.
The second one is also young, but programmed mostly in a language I hadn’t heard about (Elixer).

4·8 days agoYou said it’s the most mature, but it’s only about 2 months old and coded partially with AI.
I’m interested in this but paranoid about security, and don’t know how much I can trust something newish they also has some code the developer might not understand.

3·2 months agoIn case anyone wants to use something while waiting on some features for this, here’s an alternative set up:
Cheap Ikea ZigBee smart plug and an analog Bluetooth speaker(s) (like the Marshall ones) kept at on with volume set to max (and, if using a music player that supports it on your phone, you can keep bass and treble controls at max as well).
You can then turn on the smart plug, which will turn on the whole set up, connect your phone via Bluetooth, and play the music via a file manager that has a music organizer (if music is on your own server) and control volume levels and an equalizer on an app of your choosing. If you don’t want to wait for syncing to your Bluetooth, you can also do a quick automation so it turns on the speaker in the morning so it auto connects before you wake up.
At least, that’s how I have things at the moment.

Opensource@programming.dev•HDMI Forum is unwilling to disclose the 2.1 specification for open-source (Linux): according to AMD, they had submitted a functional, HDMI 2.1-compatible driver [for linux?], which the Forum rejected.
41·3 months agoAren’t you literally being pedantic on the definition? They’re both displays in the 55 inch range that can display media and are made for consumers.
You’re the one who keeps moving the goalposts.

2·3 months agoWell they got spurned by Google pretty badly already which is why this is even on the table now
Finally someone else said it.
Just adding that since they game Bazzite is maybe the better option but still fedora based.
But I’ve too seen compatibility issues recently with Ubuntu and Ubuntu based distros, but not really with Debian based ones (yes, even though Ubuntu is based on Debian). I don’t know why, but even MX has given me less troubles recently than Mint (not that I’d recommend base MX though - I just heavily customized it so that it’s elderly friendly, so people who basically barely can use a browser and have poor eyesight).

Seerr is ready to use? I thought the merger between overseerr and jellyseerr was just announced days ago
