Most spam and robocalling are not done from burner phones they are done through websites of which the FCC is fully aware. This seems like it’s more about monitoring people’s activities and preventing anyone without a Real ID from even getting a crappy burner phone.

I suspect a lot of people on here don’t like the idea of monetizing Lemmy since that kind of defeats the whole purpose of Lemmy. It sounds more like something people would do on Reddit or Instagram
