RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Privacy@programming.dev•DOJ: Google must sell Chrome, Android could be next7·4 months agoDuring the term of the judgment, Google would not be allowed to release any new browsers. However, it may continue to contribute to the open source Chromium project.
Potentially later, but I’m not sure people would switch at that point

Email client or provider? For client I’d go with thunderbird for provider mailbox.org or Tuta, or maybe proton (but mainly the first two).
As the other comment mentioned, this isn’t the community, I’d check out !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com (asklemmy also may not be the right community, it’s explicitly not a support community)

I thought the main point was not to create a GitLab like situation where there is a version hosted by them and a technically inferior version available as FOSS.
RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Privacy@programming.dev•[Meta] Should we consolidate this community with !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com ?6·4 months agowhich is a useful privacy tool as used by privacy focused services like grapheneos, mullvad, cryptomator, proton, Tor, signal, molly, etc
Don’t these use cryptography and not cryptocurrency? I think the rule is more about stuff like bitcoin which is (apart from monero) really bad for privacy because the transactions are more or less public
RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Linux@programming.dev•[Answered] Most customizable desktop environment?7·5 months agoGnome is technically one of the most customizable, but it is opinionated which means the end user isn’t supposed to change anything, only devs (Like Ubuntu or Zorins customizations). Kde Plasma on the other hand is designed to be easily customizable, you are supposed to make it your own without having to install external software (for example Gnome requires you to manually install the extension manager while it is built in with kde). Then there is Xfce, which is also very customizable but has little built in. This is because with Xfce you are supposed to customize with external software (for example using plank as your dock).
So basically, Gnome is for when you want an opinionated DE (or want to make a distro and have it certain way), KDE is when you want something very customizable and Xfce when you something customizable and modular.
AFAIK it used to exist but was removed to avoid recreating stuff like karma farming and minimum karma limits. But it would be pretty easy to make a bash script that manually calculates the karma score

RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Opensource@programming.dev•Self-hosted PDF manager, viewer and editor3·5 months agoFor a company it would probably be easier to manage. Also maybe the dev is just most comfortable with web dev and instead of making an electron app they made a server. But it should be possible to make a app with electron or tauri running the editor locally
Maybe you would have a better experience if you stopped calling people retards
