Adding to that, you can be a woman without having two XX chromosomes. If you have XY for example, but your SRY gene is disabled, then you grow up with a feminine body.
Vice versa, XX but where the SRY gen is turned on… or there is XYY, XXY, and even XX,XY.
As much as terfs like to pride themselves on being “real”, there is nothing that sets them apart from other women (or whom they incorrectly label as men, or women), aside from being utter asses.

Personally what I heard people do, is:
to people you know would be def allies, disclose if you want; and to those that one is unsure about, try to run with it. Those I think would not be, you might as well not disclose. But always, this goes: never feel bad for not disclosing. Your safety goes above everything.
For like online dating, I heard people say they disclose before starting something. If they then say, “even better” in a creepy tone (chaser), or something like “ew, disgusting/oh so you’re a (wrong gender) in (right gender)'s clothes” (transphobe), that’s a sign to avoid them.

You do not need to be, but a LGBTQ+ person will probably have more ‘experience’ with this discrimination and thus know when it’s bad. They can often recognise it earlier and better, exactly because they themselves often are the victims of it, and experience the effects.
If you’re not LGBTQ+, you don’t really experience homophobia yourself. That said, you should still call it out.
