I’ve got a few services running on my aging media server, so I want to start doing it properly, and getting a proper home sever going. I’ve used ssh for some of the basics in the past, but I need to start using that more too :)

On top of that, I’ve seen a few of these posts over the last few hours, and it seems like they all have different recommendations for alternative apps.

I’ve seen at least three replacements for WhatsApp already, Signal, Element, and another one I’ve forgotten the name of. The one based on email. If I’m getting confused, imagine how a ‘normal’ person is going to feel.

I’m a 46 year old man with a wife and kid. I’ve got a beard, and I ride a motorbike. I could quite neatly fit the stereotype of a manly man.

Watching this scene, I giggled like a schoolgirl, and I’m trying not to giggle now :D

I’ve only just set it up, mainly for the facial recognition. I had no idea that it could do that type of search too. It’s going to be really helpful with my faulty brain and not remembering words 🙂

The team are helpful too, and helped me with a question when I set it up 🙂

If it’s anything like my server, it’s in the same room, but only connected to the power and network. You can open and close the drive, but it doesn’t have a keyboard, mouse, or monitor 👍

Immich on its own looks good, but if I set it up, I think I’ll definitely install lightGallery to go with it 🙂

Sorry, off topic, but is this what Immich looks like out of the box, or have you used any other plugins?

Immich Public Proxy looks like exactly what I want for my family photos, but I haven’t looked into Immich yet. The demo looks beautiful, and is simple enough for the grandparents to use 🙂

I was tested by someone who came to my school when I was about eight years old because my parents were concerned. They diagnosed me as being lazy.

30+ years later and my kid is going through the same thing. The workers at the nursery are decent though, and suspect neurodiversity. A couple of appointments later and my kid gets an autism and ADHD diagnosis. My wife and I speak to them because my symptoms are so similar, and they said that from the conversations we had about my kid, they assumed that I had already been diagnosed.

I’m now 45 and still on a waiting list for an official diagnosis 😫

Oh, no, one of the guys took great pleasure in taking the disc out and handing it to the customer in front of everyone :D
