this is correct and we can just pretend the Picard series doesn’t exist

this is correct and we can just pretend the Picard series doesn’t exist

So the two options are
America- unlimited digital freedom filled w hate speech and child porn
Europe- no digital freedom worse than China

This is incredible

Depends on which star trek and which star wars
You’re right it could require some basic mowing and small scale deforestation in certain areas, we’re already in a fantastical thought experiment so perhaps grazing animals overpopulate to protect solar panels
But you certainly wouldn’t have a water concern and could just routinely keep it mowed
You don’t have to do that
you can just let them be natural and that’s how the first golf courses were and how many still are so you are not making any point
People have golf courses in the desert which uses lots of water but is not arable land, those would have to close obviously
They actually don’t and you can just let them be natural
There’s plenty of arable land, more than we could ever need, it just needs to be used intelligently

There’s already plenty of productive arable land and humanity over produces food that it simply wastes
Make golf equipment free instead

Sure except this is Star Fleet, which is science fiction, so we have every reason to assume that a mutiny would only occur for good reason, like when Kirk was possessed. An evil CMO trying to illegitimately seize power would indeed require an elaborate plot.

Just also quote the part where I said we’d need an elaborate plot to have the CMO create a mutiny that officers go along with. Then there wouldn’t be any confusion

Well now we’re talking about a mutiny and I don’t see why the officers would side with a CMO committing mutiny, if anything they’d almost certainly side with the captain. We would need an elaborate plot to substantiate the CMO successfully rallying star fleet officers to commit a mutiny.
The captain can simply relieve the CMO for cause, promote another medical officer, and that would be that.

If the captain believed the CMO was illegitimately declaring officers medically unfit I’m highly skeptical such a ploy would work just because it seems possible on paper

It’s kind of funny how naive their security protocols often are but that also goes to show how cynical and barbaric we’ve continued to become

If you’re hung up on the basic assumptions necessary to make the thought experiment work as clearly intended then you won’t get it neither

I’ll be honest, a lot of those are pretty stupid
Obviously the wires are connected
Obviously one switch controls the light
Obviously the lights start off
In a thought experiment you can magically reach the lightbulb if you want
Obviously you cannot bring a friend
Obviously you cannot see the light from the switch
Obviously you return to the switches

The answer isn’t intuitive anymore now that lightbulbs don’t always get hot 🥲

I’d much rather organize dnd with you over WhatsApp than deal with whatever it is you want to do
Youre making it even more difficult to have friends

…take the hint and go make your own friends to do activities with lol

Oh man the only thing worse than having to join a community WhatsApp would be a community discord or slack
