Yeah, I could tell that it came from their list 🙂
No shade on the Paisley Cat for this!

Super weird that they chose to release SNW s5 before s4 🤣

I hope it makes every guitar go

False alarm, he doesn’t have a beard.

Oh sh—!
I put out a similar question a few months ago. For me, it’s getting an old multiuser blog off Wordpress.
I had a lot of good feedback that I’m still trying to collate, so I recommend you pour over the responses and crossposts for the full picture. As others have said here, though — despite the steep learning curve, Hubzilla looks really interesting.

And announced on May the 4th, too 🖖🥲

I agree with your view of that particular show’s downward spiral, but let’s be fair. It looks like this entire current era of Star Trek has been cancelled, not just SNW.
Wow, they came up with this for Battlestar Galactica?! Cool! 😂

My understanding/head canon is that the entrance exam Wesley takes would be one specifically designed for super geniuses. He had already been labeled “space Mozart”, and the other candidates are also portrayed as high achievers, if not outright savants.
Why a scientific exploration force wouldn’t accept all suited applicants before the Daystrom Institute incubator program snags them up is beyond me… What we see in the episode seems counterintuitive, and more like a military approach to selecting “the best of the best” through competitive testing. I understand your confusion 😄
But the Doylean reason is of course that they needed Wesley in a sharply defined dramatic trial situation, and could neither afford nor coordinate 150 extras to portray a more “realistic” entrance exam.

There are a lot of unknowns in this question, and assumptions filling in for facts about audiences (intended as well as actual viewership), writers/producers — and the gender ratio of each group. Throwing international, culturally diverse audiences into the mix doesn’t do much to focus the subject.
There’s a lot to unpick, especially when replies to comments show you’re also implicitly concerned with the “anti-woke” crowd and their perceived gender majority. As well as their outsized public voice (ie, loudness) compared to their actual numbers, as @ValueSubtracted@startrek.website says.
Personally, and therefore also based in assumption, I don’t see Trek as written for an “average viewer” vs an actual, predominantly male audience. I’ve only observed Trek viewers to be a fair mix of all gender identities, and the show’s appeal to such a wide spectrum must come from the show itself, as written and produced.
But the individual shows must also be considered in isolation. Where shows like Discovery and SFA have celebrated woke (ie, humanist, progressive) values, I very much perceive the SNW show runners as a gang of old, male fans who somehow have been allowed to create the world’s most expensive, regressive fanfic. But that’s me.

Ask any Starfleet crew? 😅

I was in a physical meeting where the other part cracked open their Windows laptop so we could go over documents together. Halfway in I noticed the microphone icon was on in the system bar.
Considering Microsoft and the state of Windows, I’m guessing the entire conversation is liable to be used as training data, and I would really have liked the option to nope the hell out in advance.

Tragically indeed! I hope they found a home in a particularly nerdcentric sex dungeon.

By “one” I mean “certainly not me”.

Unrelated, how does one search for, say, “prosthetic Klingon boobs” without it ending up on one’s search history?

— …and my third wish is more wishes! — I’m a genie, not a moron. We’re done here.

Well, thank Space Abraham Lincoln and the Hand of Apollo they aren’t going to go forward with the SNW timeline. They haven’t done anything interesting with the Pike crew, can’t see how they’ll fare better with mysteriously fit Kirk in the chair.
I will miss the SFA seasons that will never happen, though, but look forward to the second season. There was so much to build on from the first one, but instead those gorgeous sets are demolished.
Huh. I’ve never had much interest in the comics versions, but I like the mood of those samples, and the Ferengi character. For a second I thought it was Quark; I guess he’s the most available photo reference ;)
I’ll always question why they need to keep using Kirk, but I’ll give this a shot… just for the horror of it all.
