  • If would be more productive to encourage blocking by making it more powerful/less of a chore.

    • general categories/tags to filter out (plus allow-list) rather than manual blocking
    • put ‘block community’ in more options so blocking can be done with less clicks (/for nsfw comms)
    • a way to limit how many posts from a community are shown on the same page, or from the same user (maybe an option like only show most relevant post per hour/half-hour etc)
      • ideally communities would allow setting how posts are sent to all, even if it’s just a post setting
      • or posts could be more aggressively grouped, similar with crossposts (or things that were not detected as a crosspost but likely should’ve been)

Also honestly once a block list is 50+ it already seems like named blocklists are needed to properly manage things.

  • alarm-clock-applet allows custom commands. So put systemctl suspend into a timer, bingo.

rtcwake to wake the computer up, for-better-or-worse the music will still be playing.

Someone else mentioned android, VLC there does have a sleep timer (just to stop the music) I didn’t see an equivalent option in the desktop version (at a quick glance) though.

In SMPlayer I do see the option ‘shut down computer’ as a sub-option for `close when finished playback’ (general options)

  • You know, I’m somewhat of a coding enthusiast myself.

Difficult to think of projects that I want to do that are also viable for me now. I settled on Minesweeper (/a dragonsweeper-like) though I lost momentum as I got a bit hung up on how to implement it in a way that’d allow dynamic map sizes. I suppose I should just make it as simple as I can and then differentiate it later.

Mostly been ignoring it though, instead making efforts to organize my room. Any personal growth is good, right?

I would also like an excuse to make some polygonal art (2D or 3D) but I don’t have many ideas there either, and many ideas of which would probably be an insignificant amount of actual coding compared to animation.

  • If it’s everything (in a community/profile) maybe, particularly if they don’t have any contributions elsewhere. Or if it’s actually something heartfelt/personal I can see being more touchy about it, less so with bot-like aggregation or reposting old content etc.

Because otherwise, it’s not going to be obvious where the line is when you add in time and % of content. If you’re using a bot/script to detect voting, you’re likely going to ban users just for casual browsing (even if they could explain their votes). Especially as an instance ban purges a user’s account (to users of that instance) as if they’re on the same level as an SEO spammer. Does a voting disagreement mean the rest of their account is invalid?

I don’t know if it’s fedi incompatibility or just 0-transparency moderation, but dubvee might be doing this but it’s unclear as they seem to be just handing out silent bans (no ban reason stated).
