I didn’t know, but did you spot this issue only with Netbird? Couldn’t this be due to the type of connection (P2P / relayed)?

I use JetBird instead, which at least in my case does not drain battery faster than in normal device usage with VPN disabled.
The reverse proxy is in beta and it’s disabled by default. I did not spot any rough edges around the core features. With my only three nodes and one exit node, everything works well.

There is an alternative unofficial app available on F-Droid called JetBird.
It is as valid as the official one.To reduce battery usage, you may want to try Netbird’s Lazy Connections feature.

I am one of them. I am from Italy and simply do not want to support any US-based company any more, independently from their own stance on anything.
