mipadaitu@lemmy.worldto TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•You're re-making TNG and get one F-bomb. Where are you dropping it?English8·5 months agoOut of everything he did, this was his worst command.
He’s in TEMPORARY command of a ship while the captain is on a short term mission. He’s asking for a huge sweeping change to the ship’s roster. The amount of work it would take to adjust everyone to a new schedule, just to shift everything back when Picard gets home is pointless.
I could defend almost every other decision he made, but this one… This is why he’s in the books as the worst captain.

I tried to use it while I was on vacation, but it looked like I had to push it to people? You definitely have to whitelist who can see it.

Maybe if there was a clear list of tags so it’s easier to understand even what category they’re talking about?
For example:
Penpot
Design freedom meets open-source collaborationI really don’t know what this product category even is. Is it for web layout? Is it a drawing program? Is it for CAD?

The descriptions are just too short and vague to even understand what a lot of them actually do.
mipadaitu@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•how much power does your system need?English4·6 months agoI’m using an old laptop with the lid closed. Uses 10w.
All in, including my router, switches, modem, laptop, and NAS, I’m using 50watts +/- 5.
It does everything I need, and I feel like that’s pretty efficient.
mipadaitu@lemmy.worldto Programming@programming.dev•White House: Future Software Should Be Memory SafeEnglish0·1 year agoDepends on if you’re coding for critical infrastructure (i.e. - electrical grid), or writing a high performance video game that can run on older hardware.
We should absolutely have specific licenses like Civil Engineers do for computer infrastructure that is required for any software written for specific purposes. It would be a nightmare to implement, but at some point, it’s going to be needed.
I have a watt meter monitoring the power usage of my NAS. Out of all my checks, I assume that’s how I’m going to know I get hacked before anything else.
