That’s exactly what I’m talking about though. Google, microsoft, and kinda yahoo basically control the entire market. A few providers like fastmail fight over fractions of percent. Email today feel much worse than lemmy
The fact that email is at the top here is clear evidence this is not a good metric dude. Email is not decentralized these days

Just wondering, do you guys care about federation in this case or do you just want a goodreads alternative? Because building a global book database is not well suited to decentralization, and there are centralized indie alternatives that are more complete

Sqlite can easily handle millions of rows. Don’t sell it short
They are already training on the fediverse. If something is on the public web, you can assume it’s in some training data somewhere
