I think you’re seeing the wrong causation when it comes to enshittification. FOSS licenses prevent that sort of thing from happening. Linux is already, by far and away, the most popular server OS so consumers moving to it isn’t going to make it worse.

I’m not excusing their heinous behaviour, I just also don’t believe an eight year old that hasn’t come close to developing an adult level of reasoning should be put in prison for life. Hate crimes are born from opinions. My point was that at that age a lot of people think some awful things. I thought gay people shouldn’t be able to adopt, thanks to being raised in a Catholic family. These lot committed a terrible act and that’s important to acknowledge as well, but I don’t think they should be jailed for life at the age of eight years old for it. I can’t believe that’s a controversial take?

I’m not excusing their behaviour. I just don’t believe in punishment over rehabilitation. These are 8-12yo and I choose to believe that they aren’t irredeemable or that they are incapable of learning better. If that makes me naïve then so be it, I’d rather be naïve than carry that sort of hate in my heart as well.
