This sounded off, so I checked the docs.
…downvote posts so that they are less likely to be seen.
It promotes downvoted posts?
As much as I wish votes could be private, obfuscating them would make troll instances harder to notice. I think I hate it the most that the current model gives the illusion of being private, when it isn’t.
They aren’t shown to users, no, but because votes are federated, they’re freely accessible to anyone willing to put in some effort. Set up a server and you’ll get access to the data.

2·6 months agoIf you go with something that isn’t lemmy/piefed/mbin, you should look into compatibility and project activity very carefully.
Oh boy, now I can stop missing C++

16·6 months agoYou’d have a hard time finding a company that would just give you access to a vps or managed instance for free. Running a server always costs someone money.
I know, but it does let you sled off a cliff if you choose to.
You can wrap everything in unsafe and keep living dangerously!
It’s only stalking if you aren’t doing it at industrial scale.

Your site says “no confusion”, “no fluff”, “zero BS”, etc. but the entire page is just incoherent fluff bullshit. I read the page and I have no clue what your product does.
Node: Did you say “Nerd”?
Not every judgmental asshole who hates the world is french.
I don’t consider guidelines “hard rules” anyway, just something that’s beneficial to follow where possible. A cat is fine as long as the activity is obvious and the icon is easy to parse and doesn’t stick out. I wouldn’t go “fixing” the GIMP icon either.
Cool! I have kind of lost my judgment from thinking about words so much, but maybe I did hit something good here.

I tried to contribute to ThiefMD last year, but then realized the author had disappeared and maintenance had stopped. The author’s been gone for more than two years now, so I think it’s reasonable to call the project dead. I checked the date and it seems that my open pull request celebrates its first birthday this friday.
I originally tried to fork it and port it to GTK4, but most of the functionality relied on removed GTK3 stuff and the programming language itself is dead too - I had to compile Vala language server from source because the link to the debian repo was dead 6 months ago (and apparently still is!)
Flathub was the first goal. It should be relatively easy to do Windows as well. I do need to make sure the code works on Windows, as there might be a few surprises, like forward slashes in paths. E: It was a good question, added a section about this to the readme.
