I mean, the next thing I’d like is to not penalize for having kids as a society so much that you need tax breaks. It should not be this expensive to have kids. Kids eat what you eat, and play with other kids in the community. And any assistance for kids from government should be given to all the kids, not just people with jobs. Current system of deductions for kids is government just taking less from people who already have money.

As for spouses, similar concept, but it’s a bit complicated. I’d like one parent income to be enough to have a family, because we need children to grow with parents. Currently both parents have to work and pay for daycare. The time spent with their own children is very limited. Of course people without kids will be in advantage if they have double income, but that’s bound to happen. And if having kids wasn’t this troublesome and expensive, maybe more people would do it.

I know right. It’s so weird here. People should just negotiate after tax salary and calculate everything after tax. But I guess everyone likes saying big numbers and then get angry government is taking a portion.

Honestly you should just have business pay tax like: x% for profits + y% (less than x) for employees’ salaries. That way they’ve incentives to pay salary over keeping profits (growing company is better long term). And employees don’t have to pay any tax themselves. And they negotiate amd work for after tax salary, no need to feel like gov is taking their money.

I think it depends on the type of blue color job and company as well. Some of them, you’re basically breaking your body to get some money and it could really hurt you in future.

I think having your own, or working for a small local business is great. Specially if you have a paid off house and aren’t struggling otherwise.

It’s also easy for real life. They don’t have to produce different parts or maintain them, or update them. All of that is just changing software and what it displays, that makes it easier for them to develop.

But as we’re realizing it, it’s harder to use and less safe.

Definitely happy I learned it. But I think it also helped I was introduced to it when I just started on Linux.

Most people that use Linux already has editor of choice, and emacs in windows doesn’t feel the same. I’ve had friends show interest in emacs because of how I use it, but it’s always such a hassle to set things up in windows.

Good luck with everything. Go at your own pace, hosting is just leaving a computer on. Add more things as you need and that’s all there is in my opinion. But of course you’ll learn security, backups, and other things as you need.

It is really good when I’m already using something, so I contribute to it because there’s something I wanna fix or add.

But when I’m feeling an itch to make something, then contributing can’t help because I don’t wanna go search for similar projects. I just wanna build.

Emacs is hard to refer to new users (unless they have the passion and time for these things), but I feel lucky I learned it while I had free time.

I feel like projects like these are the only ones that won’t betray us.

The thing that triggered it was when I shared an xkcd link. I have seen it a lot here but I guess it’s niche. And knowing about tardigrades, and many weird biology knowledge about bugs, bacteria, and such. We’re both super nerdy about science, but at the same time we hadn’t met anyone else be this nerdy about science in real life.

I don’t know what you mean by supports tray but have you tried KDE connect? It has a lot more features than just sending files but I use it for a few things.

And if you don’t care about having GUI, I love miniserve for sharing files. It’ll open a web server and you can connect to it to download/upload files.

I can understand people wanting markers. But maybe we have like 10-20 markers and someone having 5-6 from the other side is not weird. Like if someone is presenting as a girl completely and is not, they could just reply with “oh, I’m a guy, I just dressed as a girl today” and people would be like “that’s fun” instead of being weirded out.

Like long hair/short hair for example. Or how girls wearing pants is normal now.

In my case, my culture does have people cross dressing during certain events so it’s not as ostracized. But that could also be because people didn’t actually think about wanting to be the other gender but just dressing up for one occasion.

Few fun things:

• My parents wanted a daughter but had me,
• my nickname at home was a girl’s name version of my name,
• only children close to my age and vicinity growing up were girls so I grew up playing “girl” games,
• my mom didn’t stop me from painting my nails, or putting makeup or anything as a child. (I still paint my nails black sometimes),
• In highschool I was the only guy among the group of students with nails too long on a biology lab,
• a guy friend once told me I walk gay (I didn’t even know that was a thing?)
• I don’t watch sports, so I don’t have many common things to talk to guys as much,
• Good friends I had (guys) were based on either common interests (programming, philosophy, etc) or other nerds. And when I don’t have those and only friends are based on proximity then I don’t have as many things in common.

All those considered I’m still a guy, I just don’t care about being “manly”, and just do things that interests me. Plus lots of the things people do to be manly seems to just make them spend even more time with other guys lol. And although I don’t want to do a lot of things that are for each genders, I just wish everyone was chill about doing whatever someone likes. Or for someone to just try it out to see if they like it not, instead of thinking “that’s what X do, I won’t do it”.

I second this. This is how I got my wife to like me.

Be careful not to go overboard though, my wife, during the first few weeks, thought I might be hacking into her phone because I was tech savvy and we had too many weird things in common.

I think most early users do check further than open source licenses. It’s possible they’ll add things later, but if they add after it has enough users we have significant number of users to have some people check. And if the user base is small then they’re probably more involved, or are reading/modifying code for their use cases.

Of course it’s not foolproof, but it has worked for a long time because of things like that

I think for a open source projects with such a low number of users, the first few users will definitely look further than “it’s open source”.
