Edit: Clarity

Yeah, and one of my friends stood up a matrix server too. Getting everyone on just one like Signal though… it’s the “now there are fifteen standards” problem. I know there are bridges available for Matrix that can make it a central place for all your messaging traffic, but at least one person has to go through the effort of setting all of that up, and then maintaining it if it breaks.
I dunno, maybe I’ll be that guy. Just toss it on the pile of things I have to teach myself… Seems like it only ever keeps getting bigger no matter how much I learn, though…
Heavy sigh
Once again, I will be looking for alternatives to Signal.
Edit: If it’s just paying for cloud backups, then I don’t care at all
I thought mine was funny because I had not seen that, and I am humbled. Damn. Fukken saved.
User Feedback, the Crawling Chaos, the Haunter of the Dark… I feel its tendrils of madness reaching for my mind even now. I am not ready for this. Ph’nglui mglw’nafh caffeine R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn! Iä! Iä!
It’s sort of a plot point in a novel I read once - a character can’t remember words to speak, but they can remember songs so they just pick a song that roughly conveys what they mean to communicate. The author attributed it to the areas of the brain that control speech being different than those for music. I’ve never bothered looking up if that’s accurate, but it sounds like it might be, based on this (or, it might be based on this!)
Heh. Meanwhile, I spend my day helping business owners who are incensed their emails go to spam so often, and help them set up DNS to authenticate their emails while cautioning them it still isn’t the be-all end-all for their email delivery.
This system was cobbled together in production, and had to take into account current use cases; that’s not a conspiracy, it should not be surprising that it barely works.
That is beautiful to see, I’m proud of your dad and happy for you, he really loves you ♥️
Nobody said lithium mining isn’t environmentally damaging. The question here is whether it’s more so than fossil fuels. Are you contending lithium mining is more destructive than climate change? Because I think you’re going to have an uphill battle if you are. And if you’re not contending that, your sources are irrelevant.
I’m only diagnosed autistic, but I relate really hard to a lot of ADHD memes as well. I like to analogise with:
It’s like everyone is in their own sinking dinghy. Everyone is bailing water out of their dinghy, but neurotypicals get a bucket and I have a thimble.
My brother, you have made it. Congratulations. Now all you gotta do is return it, every day, with interest. I don’t think that’ll be too hard, somehow 😊
When giving feedback, it helps to avoid derogatory phrasing and instead specify what you don’t like and why. The key word there being “specify”. Otherwise, you don’t have a point, and you’ll come across like a dick.
Edit: okay, suffer an eternity of complaining about things that never get fixed; no skin off my nose.
Not sure if you saw elsewhere in the thread but Obsidian slows down the more notes you have because it doesn’t have a DB. Trillium is DB-based (and thus so is TrilliumNext) so it can handle a lot more entries. OP said they’ve got 300,000 notes without a performance drop!
I’m a minute in and I’m a fan, thanks for the link!
