So I’m 30mtf (generally- on meds for a bit now, gender is confusing), and I’m into clothing and style, comfort and stuff- so I figured that maybe skirts would be great! So I ordered two- a short-ish one and a long-ish one, in case one doesn’t feel right.
But of course, the short one arrived first. It’s a pleated black tennis skirt, so it’s a little rigid and has a (skort? shorts but under the skirt for modesty)… and… not for me (yet?), sadly. I’ve worn jeans and sweatpants and shorts and such that I as a guy could just… wear, normally. So anyway, tried it on, it’s a fine fit, but… my ass has never felt so exposed, I’mma be honest. And it wasn’t even, it’s just the lack of tightness just under the buttocks that skirts just don’t do, making it feel super weird for me even though it was a mostly modest length of skirt. Hopefully the longer one (with belt loops!) feels better- it’s about ankle-length by my estimate, and flowy and… I think it’s teal? I forget. It gets here in a week or so. Maybe eventually I’ll be able to wear it around the house, but… ah, I bromode too much to try being cute or wear anything cute in public (yet).
so thanks for coming and reading me ramble about my new skirt, hope it was entertaining enough for a few minutes :3

Hello fellow rambler!!
I’ve done a lot of experimenting, and have also moved away from short skirts for the time being. I do like my legs and low key like showing them off, but I’ve found the skirts that do that just don’t feel right, though I did like them last summer. The solution has been shorts! Specifically jorts. I have incredibly long legs, so finding pants that are long enough, and skirts just the right length is rare. Jorts have solved this two fold. I can now buy pants and not care about the length with the intention of cutting them. I also now have WAY more luck thrifting and avoiding buying new. Trying to find pants long enough for me in a thrift store is my white wale, but with jorts I’m just looking for waist/butt/thigh fit. This also gives me ideas of pants to keep and eye out for that I know fit in the waste and could extend with other cut up jeans.
I think in the end it’s a standards things. Like I think I kind of know what looks good, and shows off parts of my body I like. Something needs to fit just right for me to keep it. I have to accept that my body, in MANY ways, is not really accounted for in a lot of clothing, so new items need to be REALLY good or easily modified. Like I’ve held onto a few skirts I’ll modify eventually.
I hope you like the flow-y one! I have a wrap dress that goes to just above my ankle and I absolutely adore how I look in it! I’m also (freshly) 30 and always love chatting fashion and swapping brand recs and such. Hit me up sometime!
RIGHT? I actually converted a pair of jeans recently because the knees got to that point, and… yeah, oddly more affirming than the skirt, which was amusing. I’ll have to ask a local teammate what she thinks- wondering if I could just pull off jean shorts, idk, might work. Would mean I could save a LOT on clothes, since I could convert a decent amount of my old wardrobe… thanks for the reminder!
I’m a little new around here, because… reddit sucks, and I have no real roots there anyway- so, yeah, I’ll try and let you know!
