It’s like the trans version of acting like (fictional and/or historical) gay couples are just really close friends, who shared a house, bedroom, and bed, for their entire adult lives.
Or like a reverse egg. They’re in denial about someone else being trans lol
Watching japanese dudes keep writing cross dressing semi-gays as a punchline really feels more like an admission than a joke, in many cases being somewhat plot relevant in a really obese way to justify its exaggerated presentation.
I like Persona 4’s Kanji. They still make his ambigious sexuality the butt of jokes, but they give him an arc about tackling his sense of shame and leave it at a pretty open end. It’s a game from 2008, but the main thing is that he stops caring if someone’s a “dude or a chick” when it comes to attraction.
Still annoyed about what they did to Chihiro.
Bridget from Guilty Gear also comes to mind
Lily from Zombie Land Saga, Mizuki from Project Sekai, Nox from Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night, and many others, I’m sure.
Not familiar with this character, but I believe this has already happened multiple times.
Kirara’s English VA has an amazing range. They also voice Yuta and Jinichi in the show. Here’s an example of all 3. Going from Kirara to Jinichi will break your neck.
