New car registrations: -2.6% in January 2025; battery-electric 15% market share

In January 2025, new EU car registrations declined by -2.6%. Notably, the bloc’s major markets saw declines, with France (-6.2%), Italy (-5.8%), and Germany (-2.8%). Spain conversely recorded a 5.3% increase.

At least the German figures for January are even better. EVs are +31% and Tesla -76%.

  A bigger deal for Tesla is China is down over 40%. 30000 vehicles per month less. EVs still strong there.
