  • They’re thick in the “ads bring us more money than making improvements” phase of corporate bullshit now.

Reddit still can’t make a better app than the ones made by solo developers who just did it as a passion project, but they’ve got enough money to throw around for a Superbowl ad spot and an entire ad campaign on YouTube.

she wouldn’t prescribe it for me any more anyway, until I stopped using cannabis (even though it’s legal here)

For what it’s worth, don’t discount that type of advice. Get a second opinion if you think they’re wrong, but it’s just that there really are a lot of medications that can have unintended interactions with other substances, legal or otherwise.

  • There is some degree of distinction, I’d say. Bisexuality is attraction defined by the male/female binary, pansexuality is attraction regardless of gender. A person can be bisexual and attracted to cis men and cis women, but not pansexual if they aren’t attracted to trans or agendered folks.

Granted, a lot of people who say they’re bisexual are probably actually pansexual, but stick with the label that is more widely used and understood out of convenience.

That being said, just because other laptops are cheaper doesn’t make them better. I care about minimizing e-waste, so I prefer to buy durable devices that last. For that reason, I bought a Macbook 12 years ago that still works fine, while a friend of mine is on his 4th laptop in half that time.

It’s an illustration of the Sam Vimes “Boots Theory”. Not saying that buying overpriced Apple hardware is the way to go, but just that it’s important to look at more than whatever’s cheaper, since a lot of laptops that look like they have good hardware for the price are not meant to last more than a couple years.
