I do this with my coffee or plate food while walking into the living room every time
Most short trips are uneventful forgettable flights
But every once in a while, there is a spacial disturbance that affects the flight trajectory, or some kind of unexpected anomaly, or obstacles that have been unexpectedly moved into the flight path unbeknownst to the pilot or even large sentient creatures suddenly appearing in the flight path resulting in tragic consequences and loss of cargo :( … it is a sad day when I lose a fresh hot cup of coffee. One of my most tragic events a few years involved a shipment of homemade chicken soup.
I’ve been wracking my brain for several days to think of a response equal to your comment, but I just don’t have it. All I can say is that was one of the most delightful, star-trek-themed, slice-of-life depictions I’ve read on Lemmy.
It’s mostly repetition and consistency. Just comment and fire away with whatever comes to mind when you read things.
At the start, you’ll probably miss a lot and get things wrong or you might even insult people without knowing it. I’ve been playing around anonymous social media like this for years. I had several reddit accounts that I kept running for about ten years before the purge happened almost two years ago. I jumped from there and just kept going like I did before but this time on Lemmy mostly. I go exploring on other sections of the fediverse to see what’s out there and to learn more from others. When I started years ago, I was just timid and careful about what and where to post … and much of the time, I just got ignored and the other times, I really got things wrong and either posted in the wrong place with the wrong people and got really terrible responses. At first I thought all conversations were open and fun but quickly realized that there are certain groups of people you can or can’t talk to. It took me a long while to find communities like c/tenforward
Even after you find a good community, it then takes practice and plenty of reading. You start to figure out who is who and what they like and dislike and you start commenting as best you can. Eventually you start to learn the rhythm of the community and figure out where the boundaries are in what you can or can’t say and when. You also start to learn to fool around with common memes and memery and general silliness. And even after all that you still miss … not everything you write has an impact on people, not every post will be fantastic, not every comment will become popular. You just learn to let loose and let your thoughts go out in whatever you find.
Just remember to always be kind and attentive to everyone of every colour and creed … don’t jump off the ledge into outright hate, fear or extreme views … and if people scold you for what you wrote, take it as a lesson in learning boundaries … if people ignore what you said, it doesn’t mean you are unliked, it just means you keep going … because every once in a while, eventually, a comment you make does make an impact on someone somewhere sometime.
Whatever you do, just keep contributing. It makes our communities here grow naturally and its a great thing.
Don’t worry about it … everyone is looking forward to what you have to share.
In fact, she might get rid of you. She offed Tuvix under the pretense of needing her tactical officer back, but we all know it was just to ensure Neelix kept the coffee flowing.

Don’t let Janeway know that about the coffee… ☕ if she knew there were droplets in your living room, you’d never be able to get rid of her!
In fact, she might get rid of you. She offed Tuvix under the pretense of needing her tactical officer back, but we all know it was just to ensure Neelix kept the coffee flowing.
Janeway doesn’t “compete” for resources, she simply WINS! (via any means necessary)
It’s the JANEway!
