As dumb as this looks, it’s still so much better than a cybertruck.

Why do they always make electric vehicles look so damn goofy?

See the F150 Lightning, and the EV Silverado; you can get a regular looking truck that’s electric, but it’s pricey.

Buyers demand range, range is pretty much a function of battery size and aerodynamics, aerodynamics are not especially pleasing to our aesthetics, but they’re cheaper than batteries. For this truck it’s because they designed it from the ground up to maximize space and aerodynamics, so it looks like what it needs to look like to meet those goals. I’d love to see these trucks take over from the behemoths we have currently, but it doesn’t matter that they’re practical, truck guys need the big flashy.

And why do they always have a short bed?

As I recall this one will allow you to have an 8’ bed at the cost of the back seats

Because it seems these days every ute has to be a dual cab, and that eats into the load space unless you want a super long vehicle.

It looks like I should pick it up with my hand and push it around making “vroom vroom” noises… which it obviously won’t do, as it’s electric :)

The electric Transit Custom looks nice - useful size and ok range. Still fairly expensive so I won’t be changing out my Transporter anytime soon, but it’s nice that someone’s making a potential replacement so a secondhand one might be affordable in the future.

I’d love to have a transporter but the US don’t have a great selection of vans. The mini vans are too small, and the transits are too big. I’d love a transporter, or something like a delica. The problem with the ID buzz is the range.

I don’t quite get how they’ve managed to fit a five-foot bed and two rows of seating in just 152 inches. Even if we assume no hood whatsoever and an inch thick frame that’s only 90 inches for the entire passenger compartment, which is pretty tight. Maybe the seats are thin and very vertical?

Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we’ll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.
