So it’s made of shit, right? And shit is an animal product. But barring a night of drinking or a particularly aggressive burrito, shitting does not harm the shitter; it’s beneficial and required. Also the animals in question can and do consent, does that make it vegan?
OK, fair enough, but the point is that there’s no moral objection to using animal waste for compost, right? Like, if you were a vegan that ran an animal sanctuary or something, you wouldn’t refuse to use your animals’ waste to fertilize your garden, right? So if human waste is what’s making the replicator food, is that any different? It’s just cutting out the middle man.
Depends i think, i mean vegans refuse to use any animal parts or labour whatsoever the goal is to remove from the chain entirely. So they could consider animal waste in this manner to be using? Or you could argue worm labour…basically everyone finds their place on the sliding spectrum of personal morality
