The amazing part is that that 1988 song is a Weird Al song clone of Tiffany, who sang the pop song ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ in 1987 … that was also a clone of the same song which was originally done by Tommy James and the Shondells in 1967.
Only reason I know that is that I once commented to an older friend of mine that I remembered the Tiffany song when I was a kid in 1987 … and the old friend pointed out that they remembered the same song when they were a kid in 1967!
I sing the Tommy James version for karaoke. Have yet to find its Weird Al equivalent available.
