So, I Am a little over 3 months on E (4mg EEN) and yesterday I saw my boss for a meeting after quite some time (havent really seen him for like 4-6 weeks) and this man straight up sees me and is like “Wow, youre growing boobs”. I mean, yeah I Am, but I was not aware, that they are this obvious.

However, for now I have no fear that I can no longer boymode, since I wore a relatively thin (but really cool) pullover through which you can in fact see my boobs. If I wear a hoodie, you can’t see anything.

That was definitely quite an affirming and funny interaction.

lol. a friend of mine had one of his students (i know him too) run up to him in the institute, wearing a quasi-open shirt, pointing at his chest shouting: “look no boobs!”

the joys of being trans :)

You have a relationship with your boss unlike I’ve ever had with any of mine. I would have been mortified by this interaction, though admittedly a little pleased after the fact.

One thing I should add is, that hes more like a team leader and I Am working in academics (even if its just 30h a month since I’m primarily studying) in a small team. His role is primarily organising things and doing different sorts of manual work, so that I can work effectively. Its a very relaxed relationship.

Some weeks ago he literally asked me, what he should watch out for if he wants to pirate movies or music, so I guess its more like a friendship with some form of hierarchy, but its still very relaxed.

Ahh, okay. I figured it must be a less corporate situation than I’m used to given your reaction. Sounds like a really nice thing you have going there!

That working space is absolute gold. I can work when I want, where I want as long as I am getting my hours done. I Am getting money to code (so doing the stuff I would instead do in my free time) without having any formal qualifications that are worth anything. I Am working on research projects and helping to make research and development possible.

I personally would not trade that working place in for anything

Oh that sounds so wonderful! Reminds me of my days working at a medical research non–profit, which remain the happiest memories of my career. I knew I had it good, but was too young to fully appreciate how different that culture is to working in the commercial sector. The passion and the friendships are so much more genuine, and in my opinion, worth so much more than the money some might choose to look for elsewhere. I hope your organisation remains well–funded forever.

I sometimes have to squeeze through tight gaps for work, and one time my boobs (with breast forms) got caught, and I had to force them through with my hands, and my boss started quoting fight club lol

Glad for you! Hope I can feel the same way about not fearing being able to boymode anymore. For now it scares me a bit about being out to everyone.

It’s been 2 months for me and people will probably think of it as fat for now (even though they are definitely growing fast). Wearing a sports bra to bind them a bit and a large sweatshirt at work. But I feel like it’s gonna be really hard to hide after 3 months.

I’m heavy at the same time this month I merely lost half a kilo (I’ve been a bit obscessed about my weight, well always have been. I’d like to be less bulky. I always felt like a small thing in a body that is too big for me. (And the clothes choice is better with smaller clothes 🥲).

But I’ve seen some changes from exercise and that’s a good thing. Just need to be able to eat healthier (which is hard task since I’m a sugar junky and compensate for probably a lack of dopamine this way.)

were you wearing a bra when this interaction happened? also, does he know you’re on estrogen and transitioning (or were you still “boymoding”)?

I wasn’t wearing a bra since I had to wash the only one I own. He knows that I’m trans and that I was changing my name, but I didnt told him that I’m on HRT (I dont tell it that much in general). I was somewhat “girl moding” that day. I wore some grey high waist jeans and I wore this quite comfy wool pullover that I bought rom a local thrift store. It is not that thick, and not that baggy which causes my boobs to poke a little through.

      The pullover I wore:

congrats girl, but you need to wear a bra.

If you can see your nipples through the shirt, you might need a bra with more padding. Bralettes sometimes come with removeable foam pads, those are the ones that work really well.

        welcome to girlhood :-)

Yep. Going braless can be a fashion statement outside work (very 90s), but it’s seen as pretty unprofessional to have visible nipples. It’s also generally something that less passing trans women (especially early in transition women) get way less social leeway on. That said, before I got mine pierced I typically went braless socially, but since then it’s just too visible to do outside the sort of contexts where it’s socially appropriate to flash my high beams.

why did you start wearing bras after getting pierced?

I always wish I had the confidence to go braless in public, but I think it would attract unwanted attention 🤔 I’ll do it maybe if I have like a knit sweater or layers on that hide the nipple, but it feels too sexually explicit to wear my normal shirts without a bra 😅

Because it makes the nipples more visible under shirts. When you’re wearing something baggy with subtle nipples it’s fine, but when they’re always prominent it’s less so.

I keep having a strong desire to pierce my nipples, but I’m currently just suppressing those desires - how was your experience?

Makes sense re visibility; I also get the sense that piercings also lead people to see the nipple in a more sexualized way, which also tips the balance.

I don’t tend to wear baggy clothes now, so that might also be part of why I always wear a bra 😁

If you happen to have a costco membership, or know someone who can order for you there are some wire free bras from there that come in a 2 pack that’s cheaper than most of the bras I’ve looked at in stores. The brand is buffalo, and they’re pretty lightly padded and don’t have much form, and combined with no underwire means they will fit a wide range of boob sizes and should continue to fit as your boobs grow in. I wear them with or without my breast forms, which is a difference of an A/B cup to D/DD. I’m bad at estimating my cup size because my chest is very broad 😋

Well, I dont even live in the US, so that’s not an option for me.

I will probably, just buy a pack of sport bras or so. I have no clue what my cup size would be and for now I Am just going to be lazy and sticking to sport bras.

Also a good option! If you can find them, maybe try looking for one with a deeper neckline to keep wardrobe options open. I also started out with just sports bras and an unforseen consequence was I couldn’t wear a v neck without my bra showing!

yeah, I would go for bralettes over a sports bra for this reason. Also, in my experience sports bras tend to compress boobs during exercise which can be uncomfortable to wear all day, whereas bralettes are meant to actually work with normal clothes and be worn all day and can be quite comfy.

    Heh, heh… boobs…

That’s pretty quick to be visible under clothes, though. Congratulations, I guess? :3

I started with tube tops to as a kind of pseudo-binder, then went to padded sports bras when the pointies were visible even through that. At which point it was kind of impossible to hide that something was going on… and now at last I’m able to wear a proper underwire bra and show off a bit <3
